Sinus infection treatment
The Grossan Sinus Irrigator is a new sinus infection treatment irrigation device designed by Dr. M. Grossan a specialist in otorhinolaryngology, to perform nasal and paranasal washes using Pulsating Irrigation. It is comprised of a nasal adapter for external application (Grossan tip) attached to a WaterPik oral irrigator, a device for performing mouthwashes. The latter also includes the receptacle where the irrigation fluid is prepared and the impulsion pump.

The Grossan sinus infection treatment tip terminates in a cone-shaped silicon nasal adapter from which the irrigation fluid is flushed out under pressure. This pressure is adjustable by the control knob of the Waterpik, the impulsion pump of which generates a pulsating flow. As a sinus infection treatment, the Grossan tip is applied alternatively to each nostril. The fluid that enters one nostril flows out through the other one and mucous, pus, scabs etc. are carried out with it.
The sinus infection treatment irrigation is carried out with a suitable volume (500 ml) of saline solution produced at the moment of the irrigation with salts made especially for this purpose, or table salt. The volume used is sufficient enough as a sinus infection treatment to wash the nasal and paranasal mucous membrane eliminating excess retained mucous and secretions. The pulsating flow is especially effective as a sinus infection treatment since it gently massages the mucous membrane facilitating its mechanical action.
Nasosinusal irrigation sinus infection treatment with the Grossan system accomplishes the important actions of nasal and sinusal washing. The nasal mucous is washed during the sinus infection treatment by a mechanical drawing out effect. The irrigation fluid also spills over into the paranasal sinuses diluting the secretions retained there. The sinus infection treatment irrigation eliminates the inflammatory cells and the mediators present in the nasal secretions under inflammatory conditions. This effect lasts approximately 6 hours after the sinus infection treatment wash.
Mucociliary flow depends on the correct function of the nasal cilia and the properties of the mucous. Chemical agents present in polluted atmospheres, or alter this flow by infections or inflammation of the mucous membrane, or when viscosity of the mucous layer is increased. Depressed mucociliary function can be restored by pulsatile sinus infection treatment Irrigation.
A recently discovered sinus infection treatment threat to cilia health is the toxicity of most preservatives in saline sprays. Ironically, over-the-counter saline sprays have long been advised for sinus infection treatment as a portable way to hydrate inflamed, dried-out respiratory passages and encourage cilia movement. One preservative in particular, called benzalkonium, could actually destroy the mucus lining, and cilia during sinus infection treatment. Now there are several preservative-free saline sprays on the market, including Rhinocourt Aqua and Dr. Grossan's own sinus infection treatment product, Breathe-Ease.
If you've tried all these sinus infection treatments and continue to be plagued with bouts of sinus infection symptoms, a possible diagnosis is that of candidiasis, an overgrowth of candida yeast in the body. Dr. William Crook, a physician in Jackson, Tenn., says he has successfully treated hundreds of patients with sinus infection symptoms for candida with antifungal medications, immune system support, and a sugar-free diet. He has also written several books on the subject of sinus infection treatment, including "The Yeast Connection Handbook".
Repeated courses of antibiotics used as sinus infection treatment are thought to contribute to sinus infection symptoms as they promote yeast overgrowth by killing friendly bacteria in the body along with invading pathogens.
To make sinus infection treatment even more difficult, most people with a yeast-related problem are also bothered by food sensitivities. Most people needing sinus infection treatment don't know their body is bothered by particular foods, and they continue to eat them, putting even more strain on an already overburdened immune system. The sinus infection symptoms vs. sinus infection treatment become a vicious cycle, similar to that of antibiotics for the treatment of sinus infection symptoms. You may want to consider getting tested for food sensitivities, usually through a dietitian or a nutritionally oriented physician. Clearly, sinus infection treatment and their symptoms demand constant vigilance and usually a complete overhaul in lifestyle, but the payoffs can make it worthwhile.
