Melatonin + tinnnitus

Does the product Melatonin provide any significant relief in the treatment for tinnitus? What have you heard about this if anything.

I guess Melatonin helps ease tinnitus by inducing or allowing people to sleep more comfortably. That way, the head and the ears are morel relaxed therefore no tinnitus.

Do you know what in the melatonin that causes this to occur. I understand that it can make you more relaxed, but am not sure how this would work but would like to know.
